This sidewalk chalk paint activity was one of my favourite things to do with Little J last Summer.
Little N was only about 2 months old and I needed an activity to keep him busy during his little brother’s nap time. I figured – why not whip up a batch of this easy chalk paint recipe and see how long it lasts.
The answer: 1 hour. 1 FULL HOUR!!
I couldn’t believe it!
He had never had that long of an attention span before (and he was 20 months old at the time we did this), so I knew this sidewalk chalk paint activity was a winner!
I’ll be sure to make up a batch again this Summer, especially since it only takes about 7 minutes to make (if not less)!
I’m sure Little N is going to love this too! This will make great sibling play for the boys!

CHALK PAINT RECIPE
- 1 part cornstarch
- 1 part water
- food colouring
For our colours, I simply mixed 1 cup of water and 1 cup cornstarch, then split into 4 bowls and added about 10-15 drops of food colouring to each bowl.

THAT’S IT!!
Little J had a blast doing this. And when it dries, the colours come out so bright!

In terms of cleaning up the mess, simply hose it down or wait for the rain. It was also super easy to clean off his body!
